June, 2020
While in Maine we were quarantined at the family home – no going out to stores. We did take walks down to the lake. Jeanette and Barb made face masks for the Maritime Museum. Teresa got us supplies. Don’t even know how many we made. Barb finished the binding on the quilt for great niece and Jeanette made two pillow case covers from the extra materials brought north. We boxed it up and Teresa shipped it out. We left on June 6 and headed west to Michigan. Hallelujah was launched on June 8 and we moved the boat 2 miles to a private marina – Duncan Bay Boat Club. We got a great slip so we were close to the club house (bathrooms and laundry along with a great lending library). We slowly stocked the boat – tried the Family Fare grocery store, but not much luck so ended up with Walmart – more of most things. We even drove to Petoskey for food and of course marine supplies. We have friends who launched in May and we did visit with them. More DF friends arrived in our marina around the 15th and we had 8 on the back deck – social distancing about 3 feet apart. We moved furniture and fenders off the back deck and put up chairs in the corners – it did work! Weather was cool so we did a lot of sweatshirts and long pants. But we have a great marina – pump outs at docks so we didn’t have to move Hallelujah and we didn’t have to go ashore if we didn’t want to. We read books, cleaned the boat, organized projects and relaxed. June 20th came – our 50th wedding anniversary. We did a memory walk by looking at wedding pictures – what a hoot! We had hair, skinny bodies, and lots of dreams. We went out to dinner – first dinner in a restaurant in months. There were 6 of us and the food was great – lots of social distancing between tables. We talked about summer plans and made plans for July to do a short trip around the area. We did get Hallelujah out for a short day trip just to exercise the engines. We continue to spend most of our days on our boat without much conversation with others.
May, 2020
May rolled around; we are still walking and riding our bikes and swimming. Barb started the month with list making for closing down the house. We continue to do grocery shopping very early in the morning on senior days. Barb was able to get a quilt top to a quilter and was able to get into a quilt shop for some supplies. Otherwise we stayed home and didn’t do any entertainment. We did order a pizza from our favorite Italian restaurant when they reopened to take out only. What an exciting month. We made plans with family to first travel to Maine.
The house was closed up and everything in place for the summer (Barb insists on moving precious items off the floor so they are up 4 feet). We left on May 28 and drove to Charleston, SC to pick up the Aqua Finn that we purchased for our niece and family. Then headed to Maine. It was an interesting experience to be hauling a trailer after many many years. We arrived on the 30th and spent the afternoon of the 31st putting the boat together.

April, 2020
April was a very long but short month. The world has changed and we found that we change with it. While we continue to do our exercising by walking, biking and swimming, we do it alone. We are going out earlier in the mornings for walks / biking as the weather is starting to heat up. We swim in the afternoon. We spent 95% of the month at home – the other five was spent going to Publix or ABC Wine and Spirits – had to have drink of pleasure. We saw no one and talked to very few on phone, text or email. We did wave to other walkers and have a few unpleasant words to dogs trying to attach the bike. Barb worked on quilting until both machines began to have problems. Unfortunately, machine repair store was closed. We both read books. Barb continued to review books for a colleague as she finished writing great stories. Barb also did a webinar for AGLCA (the Great Loop Association). Feedback was good that people liked the topic – had over 60 people on the site while presentation was given. Don’t know how many watched it afterwards.
We worked on summer plans and decided we would have a summer dock this year. Contracts were emailed back and forth. We will have a home base for the summer.
